Someone Special

My someone special is my brother Bill, but it could just as easily be my brother Adam. As most, if not all, of you know, Riley doesn't have a dad. Don't go feeling sorry for him though. I think God and the Justice system for that fact. So many kids have horrible excuses for parents in their lives today because the people in the system think that a bad parent is better than an absent parent. I don't happen to believe that. I know that my son is much better off with our current situation than he would have been if my ex was still in the picture. Thank goodness Riley's attorney also saw things that way. But, that's another story for another day. Today's story is about how much I love my brothers for being that positive male influence in Riley's life. Riley loves both of his uncles, and I'm so thankful that we all live so close to one another and that Bill and Adam can be a constant presence in Riley's life. The Lord knows they're not perfect, but they are hardworking, honest men who love their family and who will stand up for what they believe to be true and right, no matter the odds or popular opinion. Unfortunately, in this day and age, those traits are becoming more and more rare.
This week Bill brought Bailey, some BB's and a homemade target over to the house and took all three of the kids outside on the back porch for some target practice. Riley had a blast, and I got a few pictures (from the back...I'm sure you'll understand why I didn't get any from the front when you see the pictures!).

Good choice..and my lord he's lookin more like your dad than I realized. Ri (and you) are blessed. Every little guy needs a big guy to help him figure out how to be a man...Have you read "Wild at Heart"? Very good book on guy stuff. Wayne and I both love and respect Bill, his position, and his service to our community.

And I just found out Adam works EMS..where have I been? I thought he was working for a sign co...that was probably when he was 15..LOL That's how far behind I am.

Wow Amy....brought tears to my eyes. It is so crazy how it takes us growing up to realize how important our siblings are! My brother and I are closer now than we have ever been!
Love the pictures!!

Someone told me once, God doesn't always give us what we WANT or EXPECT but He gives us what we NEED. He knew Riley needed his Uncle Bill and Uncle Adam.

What a brave man to be sitting there with kids and BB gun! So glad you have brothers, it makes all the difference in the world, nothing like a brother to love.

OHHHH such a sweet story! They all look like they are mesmerized. It is wonderful how Bill and Adam are there for Riley. They are great role models. Riley will have sweet memories of his uncles through the years. By the way I agree with Judy. Bill looks so much like Willie.

To know your family is a blessing. For as long as I've known your brothers, I knew they were good guys...even when Adam chased me with the golf club...and the hatchet...and somewhere along the line I'm sure there were other instances!!! You and Riley are lucky. Love ya girl.

I am proud of all three of my children. I think they have grown to be upstanding adults. They aren't perfect, only God is perfect. I thank God for letting me be their mother. I love them so very much.

Great post Amy! I admire you so much for your courage. You are a wonderful mother and it shows in Riley! You are very blessed to have great support from your family. They have more than made up for anything Riley may have missed by not having his dad, heck it's like he's got 3 dads!
